Terrortory First Look

There are many stories in the woods.......

"Terrortory" the new horror anthology film currently in crowd funding looks to breath new life in to the anthology genre taking us back to the roots of 80's slasher films. The brain child of the folks over at Original Sin FX of Maryland. The film was born out of a
five minute "FX Reel" showcasing Original Sin FX talent in the  practical effects business, grew to include other local Maryland indie film makers. The other local indie film teams would be allowed full creative control and tell their story, as long as it keeps to the mythology of the "Terrortory". It will be nice to have a true anthology instead of 3,4, or even 26 unrelated stories under one title. With the success of the VHS series and the ABC's of death the anthology genre is having a bit of a resurgence we haven't seen since the 80's. what makes this one so special in my book is the nod too our favorite time in slasher haven, the hey day of
the genre the 80's. While "Terrortory" is not a period film set in the 80's, it will give us the gritty feel of those warm summer nights at the drive in. Written and directed by Mark Wenger with the screen play by Matt Cloude. The film has all the makings of another east coast breakout film.

Original Sin FX short is billed as a 80's Schlock-style horror comedy short about an ambiguous killer wreaking havoc on an unwitting
indie film crew in the woods of Western Maryland. And by the looks of the funding video and poster we have the basics to every good slasher pic blood, boobs, and people that should never go into the wood.  Original Sin FX along with folks like Slasher Studios and Jessica Cameron are bringing the fun and gore back into the indie slasher genre. so lets get out there a make those silly campers pay.

The Rectory First Look

The Rectory

In 1937, Harry Price held the keys to Borley Rectory. He then unlocked the evil...

The most haunted house in england and a maverick paranormal investigator .......what could go wrong......
Harry Price

The new thriller/horror movie in preproduction from writer/director Jonathan Chance, Takes a look at a true story from the area he grew up in. The story of the Borley Rectory in Sudbury, Essex UK. In 1937 Price rented the Rectory for a year
Jonathan Chance
to run paranormal experiments.  And as the plotline states " his reputation may not be the only thing he will lose" Chance has put together a veteran starting line up including Crispian Belfrage as Price. Looking over Price's career you can safely say he was thee father of paranormal investigations and without him we don't have the TV shows or movies we have today. After extensive reading on Price and  Borley Rectory, I have no problem saying "If this movie isn't made all horror/ghost fans should be ashamed".  It has all the makings of a great film:
  • Based on true events
  • Pre WWII England
  • The most haunted house in England
  • A veteran cast and crew
  • The Rectory
  • The maverick godfather of the paranormal

The project in
pre-production has a crowdfunding campaign going on until June 20, 2014. It has great perks for all budgets from $5 up to $2500 so it truly is something anyone can be involved in and even if times are hard so them a favor and give them a shout out on social media and have your friends a followers do the same, The sooner they get filming the sooner we can leave the lights on when we sleep.

Utero (2014) First Look

Utero (2014) First Look

 Baby changes everything.........

Arachnophobia meets Rosemary's Baby........I'm in

To those of us with kids that tagline alone should scare us. The new film by director Bryan Coyne producer of the dark little human condition film "The Human Race".  Making his full length film debut as director and taking on the roles of writer and producer with Utero telling the story of every parents worst fear, somethings not right with their unborn child. The cast reads like a who's who of modern horror movies including reigning scream queen Jessica Cameron(who will be making her directorial debut later with the film "Truth Or Dare". The plotline reads like what every soon to be parent goes through at some point "is our baby ok"

An agoraphobic unwed mother finds her psyche unraveling as she becomes convinced that her unborn child is more monster than human.

If the buzz and promo photos of the film are any indication we may be looking at the rival to The Sacrament as the top horror film so far this year. The more I learn about this film the more I can't wait to see it. So grab a cigar and a rolled up newspaper and wait for the birth of Utero

'AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW' News

KILLER CONFIRMED FOR 'AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW'

One of the highlights throughout all three of the previous 'American Horror Story' seasons has got to be the inclusion of a mystery maniac. During an interview with EW Murphy was describing the tone of the next season as "quite terrifyingly dark." He continued..."if you have a character named the Clown Killer, it’s going to be dark." So there you have it "The most terrifying clown ever!" The fourth season stars Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Jamie Brewer, Denis O'Hare, Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Evan Peters and newcomer Michael Chiklis ('Fantastic Four') and will be set in a 1950's freak show based in Florida. Marianne (2011) Review

Marianne (2011)or horror done right

8 Out Of 10 Stars was only constrained by it's budget

The Short Of It:
  • Good Story
  • Great Acting
  • Nice Soundtrack
  • Well Done Cinematography
  • A few places where shaky cam almost took away from it
The 2011 Swedish horror film based on the folklore of a "Mare"as in nightmare, By writer/director Filip Tegstedt is a true indie classic in my opinion.Made on a budget of just 150 thousand USD it holds it own with any studio release of recent memory. The cast may be unknown in the US and with few exceptions in Swedish cinema but that doesn't let it hold it back with great performances from top to bottom. New comer Sandra Larsson (as Sandra)plays the teenage daughter with just enough angst and vulnerability to be very believable. Anchoring the film is veteran Swedish actor Thomas Hedengran (as Krister). It's not often that lead character has so little redeeming qualities but you still feel for him, but he nails it.
A mention here to Peter Stormare(as Sevn) who is the only actor on this project that US audiences might know. From work in Prison Break and numerous voice acting work. While not your average ghost story by any means, you can see influences of some of the classic the genre offers. Tegstedt takes us through the story of a man that karma can't stop messing with and it's with Tegstedt's timeline flashback story telling that we find out he is deserving of all he's getting. While the movie has no real jump scares it's the creepy slow burn that draws you in and keeps you watching. It was truly refreshing to have a movie not rely on special effects and gore to to make you uneasy. I really hope we see more from Filip, in my for what it's worth opinion I think we may be seeing the next Ti West, Eli Roth, or Neil Marshall. In conclusion if you want a good movie that is equal parts horror, family drama, with a touch of thriller thrown in this ones for you. The only this could have been better for me if it was a documentary crews found footage. If you don't run across it, seek it out, Available on ITUNES, XBOX, and VUDU to name a few.  .
